Dumanis Reaches Out To Women As Primary Election Nears

District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis is reaching out to women voters in her attempt to make it through San Diego's June mayoral primary.

"And I've been active and involved in women's issues and broken glass ceilings as a woman for the last, almost, 40 years here in San Diego," she said. "I was the first women ever elected to the Municipal Court, the first woman elected to an open seat in the Superior Court, and the first woman elected as the District Attorney in San Diego."

Dumanis says she's not concerned about her poll numbers. She says polls during her first race for DA showed her down by 20 percent a week before the election, and she went on to win.

Dumanis has trailed consistently in the polls since she announced her candidacy for mayor.

As the June 5 primary draws closer, Dumanis is highlighting women's issues in an attempt to appeal to that voting block. Her campaign recently held a virtual town hall with thousands of women to hear about issues that concern them. Dumanis says she's been a leader in that area.
