The San Diego County Water Authority wants to raise water rates by nearly 10 percent. The water authority blames the higher cost of water from its main supplier, the Metropolitan Water District, as one of the reasons for the proposed increase. Sandy Kerl, deputy general manager for the San Diego County Water Authority explains the other reasons for the rate hike.
