Camp Pendleton Marine Sgt. Ian Copelan Wiseman, 28, was killed early Saturday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided head-on with an automobile, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
The accident occurred in Oceanside on El Camino Real, just north of Skyline Drive.
Wiseman was driving his black "streetbike style" motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he crossed over the median and slammed into a silver Volkswagon Passat.
According to the Medical Examiner's Office, the force of the collision ejected Wiseman from the motorcycle:
He was thrown an extended distance and subsequently came to rest down a 25' embankment along Skyline Drive. Arriving Oceanside Police Officers and Oceanside Fire personnel confirmed his death at the scene without resuscitative efforts due to obvious fatal trauma.
Law enforcement is investigating the crash.
