Two Special Forces Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

Two Army Special Forces soldiers were killed in Afghanistan on October 6, according to the Department of Defense.

Warrant Officer Joseph L. Schiro, 27, of Coral Springs, Fla., and Staff Sgt. Justin C. Marquez, 25, of Aberdeen, N.C. lost their lives in Chak district, Wardak Province, Afghanistan, when they were shot while on dismounted patrol.

Both Schiro and Marquez were assigned to the 1st Special Forces Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
