In addition to the popular segments viewers love and trust — Adam Ried's equipment reviews, Jack Bishop's taste-tests and Doc Willoughby's science behind cooking segments — the 12th season includes the new "Do It Yourself" segment in which newcomer Bryan Roof makes many common ingredients.

"Rise And Shine Breakfast" - In this episode, host Christopher Kimball discusses the science behind scrambled eggs with science expert Guy Crosby. Then, test cook Becky Hays uncovers the secrets to perfect Scrambled Eggs.

Next, equipment expert Adam Ried reviews the best toaster ovens in the Equipment Corner. Later, test cook Yvonne Ruperti shows Chris how to make foolproof Cranberry Nut Muffins. And finally, tasting expert Jack Bishop challenges Chris to a tasting of peanut butter.

What is America's Test Kitchen?

Above: We know how frustrating it can be when things go wrong in the kitchen. That's why every single recipe in our books has been tested not once, not twice, but often as many as 20, 30, or even 40 times. And then, just to make absolutely sure, we often test our recipes using cheap cookware, mediocre stovetops, and the wrong ingredients. All of this work results, we hope, in a simple promise: Our recipes work the first time and every time.
