Navy Cmdr. Joel Del Mundo Tiu died of non-combat related injuries in Bahrain on October 12, according to the Department of Defense. The 49-year-old Tiu was from Manilla, Philippines.
Tiu was assigned to Logistics Forces, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Manama, Bahrain.
According to the Navy Times, Tiu served in the Navy Supply Corps. He was in the Navy for 28 years, serving in Norfolk, Virginia; Saudi Arabia; Guam; and Germany.
