Kaiser's newest health facility is open in Carmel Valley, a veritable one-stop shop for most medical needs.

SAN DIEGO — To help serve the region's growing population, Kaiser Permanente has opened a new medical complex in Carmel Valley. The state-of-the-art facility will provide a host of medical services under one roof.

The new Kaiser complex sits right off the 56 freeway on the western edge of Carmel Valley.

Kaiser members will have access to 20 primary care doctors and a variety of specialists, including neurologists and dermatologists.

The new facility is decorated in earth tones and there's plenty of natural light.

Kaiser Vice President Mary Ann Barnes said the building is designed to be comfortable.

"Having open air, windows, high ceilings, just kind of a green environment, makes a huge difference in how our employees and physicians react and work, as well as our patients coming in," Barnes explained.

The complex represents a major expansion for Kaiser, which has 157,000 members in North County.

Kaiser plans to break ground next year on a new hospital in San Diego.
