Transcript

This Saturday Reading Cinemas kicks off another month of Forty Foot Films. What's a Forty Foot Film? Well read on.

Some things are just larger than life.

GENE HACKMAN: All right, Popeye’s here.

Like Gene Hackman’s Oscar-winning performance as real life cop Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in "The French Connection." That 1971 film also has one of the most intense, breathtaking car chases ever shot. Both deserve to be up on the big screen, and thanks to Reading Cinemas they will be. The theater chain has made a dedicated effort to bringing classic films back to the big screen for its ongoing films series, Forty Foot Films. The title refers to the size of their screens and yes sometimes size does matters. For a generation of filmgoers who’ve only seen "The French Connection" on TV, this is a great opportunity to experience the film as it was meant to be seen.

And there’s more…

AUDREY HEPBURN: I’m crazy about Tiffany’s…

Audiences will have a chance to fall in love all over again with Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany’s" and in her Oscar-winning role in "Roman Holiday." And in case you forget how delicious that film is and how enchanting Hepburn is, here's the trailer.

The month will also bring another Oscar-winner, Gregory Peck in the still powerful "To Kill A Mockingbird," based on Harper Lee's novel.

GREGORY PECK:The defendant is not guilty but someone in this courtroom is..

So don’t be guilty of watching these films on the small screen. The Forty Foot Film Series runs on select evenings at Reading’s Gaslamp and Town Square 14 Cinemas. And did I mention, tickets are a mere $5.00. Now you just can't beat that.

Thanks to Scott Marks for screening it at MOPA, but that was back in the late 90s! Far too long.
