Helicopter Crash Kills Crew Filming Military-Themed Reality Show (Video)

A helicopter crash early Sunday morning in rural Los Angeles County killed all three people on board. The helicopter crew was shooting footage for a military-themed reality show that was to air on the Discovery Channel.

The New York Times identified the three people killed as David Gibbs, 59, Darren Rydstrom, 45, and Michael Donatelli, 45. According to the Times:

Mr. Gibbs was the helicoper pilot, Mr. Rydstrom a crew member and Mr. Donatelli a cast member.

The production company Eyeworks was filming the reality show for the Discovery Channel, which released the following statement:

"We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families."

Production for the show, which has yet to be named, was shut down after the fatal crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the accident.
