California Soldier Murdered In Burglary Remembered (Video)

A soldier from Southern California who was killed along with his pregnant wife in a botched Colorado Springs burglary is being remembered today at Fort Carson.

Colorado Springs Police say Army Staff Sgt. Dunlap and his pregnant wife, Whitney Butler, were shot to death when they surprised a burglar in their home on January 14.

The Associated Press reports the Provider Chapel at Fort Carson held a memorial service today to honor the couple.

According to the A.P.:

The couple moved to Colorado Springs in October. Dunlap's military specialty was helicopter repair and he arrived at Fort Carson to be part of a new combat aviation brigade.

Dunlap was originally from Moorpark in Ventura County, California.
