San Diego Man Sentenced For Child Sex Trafficking

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- A San Diego man convicted of using underage teenage girls as prostitutes has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

City News Service says Carlos Alberto Garcia was sentenced Monday in federal court. He pleaded guilty last year to child sex trafficking.

San Diego police investigators say the 20-year-old advertised the girls' services online and made thousands of dollars. He was arrested after an investigation by San Diego police.

The U.S. attorney's office says sex trafficking of children is a growing trend and the number of cases in Southern California has soared in the past five years.
