The military is investigating the death of Ohio National Guard Spc. Cody Dalton Suggs, 22, who died March 7 in Afghanistan at Kandahar Airfield in what the Pentagon calls a "non-combat incident."

Suggs was originally from West Alexandria, Ohio. According to his Facebook page, he graduated in 2009 from Twin Valley High School.

The Dayton Daily News reports Suggs joined the Ohio National Guard after high school to pay for college.

He was assigned to the 1487th Transportation Company (Piqua, Ohio), which is part of the 371st Sustainment Brigade (Springfield, Ohio).

Suggs leaves behind his parents, Brian and Wendy Suggs, and his younger sister, Taylor.

Taylor wrote this beautiful tribute to her brother on his Facebook memorial page:

"For you Brother, I promise you this, I will go on with my life and make you proud. I will always hold you in my heart. I promise you I will be missing you everyday till the end of time, but this is not my end and I can't hold my head underwater I need to breathe. I need to love and miss you, but I also need to live because through me you will live."
