"Trailblazer, A Biography of Jerry Brown," by veteran Associated Press political reporter Chuck McFadden, is the first biography of California's governor in more than 30 years.

Before Jerry Brown was elected governor the second time around in 2010, pundits were writing that California had become ungovernable.

The passage of Proposition 30 last November, known in the press as the Governor's tax initiative, is seen as a major victory for Governor Jerry Brown. A new biography that covers the victories, defeats and eccentricities of California's chief executive is out this week.

"Trailblazer," written by veteran Associated Press political reporter Chuck McFadden, is the first biography of California's governor in more than 30 years.
