Military Firefighters To Conduct Controlled Burn At Miramar Air Station
Thursday, May 16, 2013
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Smoke and flames may be visible from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar today as military firefighters take part in a brush-clearing controlled burn.
The prescribed fire is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the eastern reaches of the installation, south of Scripps Ranch, according to the base's public-affairs office.
The burn, a method of reducing wildfire risks at and near the air station, is not expected to create any visibility or air-quality problems in surrounding communities.
