Transcript

Summer is in full swing in San Diego County and many families spend their weekends gathering around barbecues and swimming pools. But a new report finds most child drownings occur in a family's own backyard. That puts children under 5 years old at a higher risk.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission found that children younger than 5 years old account for 75 percent of all pool and spa submersion deaths. We take a look at pool safety in San Diego County and what steps parents can take.
