For the first time in West Point's history, two men married in the military academy's Cadet Chapel.

Larry Lennox-Choate and Daniel Lennox-Choate are both graduates of West Point. Larry (formerly Choate) graduated in 2009, and Daniel (formerly Lennox), was a member of the class of 2007.

Larry Lennox-Choate explained to The Associated Press what his wedding means when put in a bigger context:

“It’s maybe one more barrier that’s pushed over a little bit, or maybe one more glass ceiling that’s shattered that makes it easier for the next couple."

The Lennox-Choates aren't the first same-sex couple to wed at the West Point chapel. According to The Atlantic Wire, Brenda Sue Fulton (West Point class of 1980) married Penelope Gnesin there in 2012.

Larry and Daniel exchanged vows Saturday in front of about 20 guests. They wore tuxedos and not Army uniforms, as they are no longer in the military.

Daniel, 28, is a student at Harvard University working on his master’s degree in business administration. Larry, 27, is hoping to join his husband at Harvard, and is applying to the Ivy League college's prestigious John F. Kennedy School of Government.
