Two Colorado Airmen Killed In Car Accident

Law enforcement officials are investigating a car accident this morning that took the lives of two service members assigned to Schriever Air Force Base.

Air Force Space Command reports the crash took place on Highway 94, just outside of Colorado Springs, Colo. Schriever Air Force Base is located 10 miles east of Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs police said one vehicle with two men inside was traveling east when it drifted into the westbound lanes of the highway. The vehicle then collided with a truck traveling west.

Col. William Liquori, 50th Space Wing commander, released a statement upon learning of the deaths of two of his airmen:

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the two individuals. The loss of life pains Team Schriever deeply. We will do everything we can to support the family and friends in their time of need."

The military has not yet released the names of the two men killed in the car accident, pending notification of family.
