The beginning of the new school year can be a challenging time for college students.
Many are away from home for the first time, and some become emotionally overwhelmed and depressed.
San Diego's universities are joining county officials and mental health providers to mark National Suicide Prevention week.
They are working to decrease San Diego's suicide rate, which hit a record height of 413 suicides last year.
