Gusty winds and light isolated showers lingered in parts of San Diego County's mountains and deserts on Saturday as a late-spring storm shifted to the east.
The storm didn't bring much rain to San Diego, with Lindbergh Field recording a mere .16 of an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service at 4 p.m.
More rain fell in other parts of the county, with readings at 11:15 a.m. of 1.32 inches in Julian, nearly an inch at Palomar Mountain, .69 of an inch in Escondido and .29 of an inch in Carlsbad.
The weather service also issued a high-wind warning for the mountains and the deserts until 9 p.m., as was a less severe wind advisory for elsewhere in the county.
Gusts of 74 mph were recorded on Volcan Mountain shortly after 4 a.m., and a 68 mph gust was measured shortly after 3 a.m. at the Lucky Five Ranch, according to the weather service.
Winds of 25 mph to 35 mph, with gusts of up to 55 mph, remained possible through Saturday night in the mountains and deserts, and coastal and valley areas could see winds of 15 mph to 25 mph, with gusts of up to 35 mph, forecasters said.
The wind could make driving difficult and kick up sand and dust in the deserts, reducing visibility. Travel on Interstate 8 through the mountains could be affected.
Drier and warmer conditions were expected Sunday.
Along the coast, a beach hazards statement for elevated surf and strong rip currents was in effect through late Monday night. According to the weather service, the highest waves will occur on south- to southwest-facing beaches, with 3- to 6-foot waves and sets of up to 8 feet likely.
