The Encinitas Little League all-star team lost 8-4 Wednesday to the all-star team from the Mountain Ridge Little League of Las Vegas in the West Regional tournament in San Bernardino.
Encinitas, which still qualified for Friday's semifinals, led 3-2 going into the fourth inning, but Mountain Ridge scored four runs to take the lead for good.
Encinitas wrapped up pool play with a 2-2 record, while Mountain Ridge finished 4-0.
The all-star team from the Honolulu Little League also completed pool play with a 4-0 record, including a 9-2 victory over Encinitas on Saturday.
The first of Friday's two semifinals will match the second- and third- place teams from pool play and the second will be between the first- and fourth- place teams.
The semifinal winners will play for the championship on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the Little League World Series, which is played in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Ten teams from San Diego County have played in the Little League World Series, including the U.S. champion Eastlake Little League all-star team from Chula Vista last year and the 2009 world champions from Chula Vista's Park View Little League.
This is the first time a team from the Encinitas Little League, which was formed in 1957, has advanced to the West Regional, according to league officials.
