Warm, windy weather is on the horizon for San Diego County.
Temperatures will be well above normal until Christmas, the National Weather Service said. Highs will be 5 to 20 degrees above average, KPBS media partner 10News said.
Gusty Santa Ana winds are also expected in the valley and mountain areas of San Diego County Monday night, meteorologists said.
A wind advisory will be in effect in valley and mountain areas from 10 p.m. Monday evening to 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. A high wind watch that was scheduled for the entire county Monday night was canceled shortly before 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Possible throughout the county starting Monday night are sustained northeast- to-east winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with widespread gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, according to a National Weather Service forecast. Isolated gusts of nearly 60 mph are possible in the most wind-prone areas, like the Cuyamaca Mountains, the weather service said.
Residents and travelers are encouraged to watch for broken tree limbs and debris on roadways.
A beach hazards statement is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday for surf of three to five feet and sets up to six feet. The highest surf will be along west-facing beaches south of Del Mar, 10News reported.
By Christmas a weak trough of low pressure will bring cooler weather with a deeper marine layer west of the mountains, the weather service said.
