Modified Hours For Public Services Go Into Effect Christmas Eve

Modified hours for some public services are scheduled to go into effect Wednesday for Christmas Eve.

In the city of San Diego, municipal pools are set to close at 3 p.m. and Chollas Lake will close at 4:30 p.m. The container sales office at the Miramar Landfill will shut down at 2 p.m., but the dump itself will operate according to normal hours.

City libraries will begin modified schedules Wednesday that will last through New Year's Day. Schedules for the branches are available online.

Special hours will also be in effect for city of Chula Vista parks and libraries through Jan. 2.

Chula Vista's animal shelter will suspend most services through Monday so it can undergo renovations. However, animal authorities will still accept drop-offs of stray pets, assist in returning lost pets and perform euthanasia upon request.

Almost all federal, state, county and local facilities will be closed Christmas Day.

Metropolitan Transit System and North County Transit District buses, trains and trolleys will operate on a normal schedule Wednesday and on a Sunday schedule on Christmas Day.
