Winds, Slight Chance Of Rain Ahead For San Diego County

Strong gusty westerly winds will develop in San Diego County later Wednesday night and continue into early Christmas Day, meteorologists said.

The National Weather Service scheduled a wind advisory for mountain and desert areas from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, saying sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph are likely.

Isolated gusts up to 65 mph are also possible near the mountain ridge tops and on the desert slopes of the mountains, the agency said.

"The winds will make driving difficult, especially for motorists with high profile vehicles," the weather service said. "Watch for broken tree limbs and other debris."

There's a slight chance of rain at the coast and in the valleys and mountains on Wednesday and Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
