Wind Advisory For San Diego Mountains And Deserts Until Noon

Gusty winds are expected to blow through San Diego County's mountains and deserts Monday morning, which could lead to difficult driving conditions.

A National Weather Service wind advisory for the mountains and deserts is set to take effect at noon and extend until noon Monday. Winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, along with gusts of 45 mph near mountain ridge tops, along desert mountain slopes and into adjacent desert areas.

Weather service meteorologists said the gusty west to northwest winds would be ushered in by a trough of low pressure passing by to the north that would bring stronger onshore flow.

The wind could kick up sand and dust in the deserts, which could make driving difficult, especially for motorists in high profile vehicles, NWS forecasters said. Drivers were advised to use extra caution and to watch out for broken tree limbs and other debris in the roadways.
