A GROWING PASSION is a lifestyle program that explores San Diego County’s agriculture and horticulture activities as an expression of this growing earth-friendly movement.

From backyard food production to major horticultural growers, from low water landscapes to sustainable practices around the home and in the garden, we tell stories about the natural and man-made landscapes that shape the social, cultural, environmental and economic interests of our community.

We celebrate how San Diego grows. The series is hosted by Nan Sterman.

Gardens beautify, they feed, they serve as habitat for animals, and they do more.

Some gardens become places that heal bodies and souls or inspire new beginnings.

Such is the case with the locations we visit in "Growing Dreams And Memories":

  • In Poway, children joyfully garden with elders inflicted with dementia or Alzheimer's.
  • In San Diego, a hospital garden helps children escape the monotony and pressures of long stays.
  • In El Cajon, young adults with developmental disabilities find their lives' purpose in the garden.
  • On a farm in Valley Center, military veterans are healing and creating new lives through the magic of growing.
