Lee grew up in Fort Wright, Kentucky. His father, Daniel Patrick Lee, told Cincinnati.com that his son loved being a soldier:

“He lit up a room when he came in and he was always smiling. He had such a positive outlook in life, was very strong and very dedicated to the U.S. Army.

“We are very proud of him.”

In addition to his parents, Lee is survived by his wife, Suzy; their 6-month-old son, Daniel Roderick Lee; and his older sister, Jamie Hahn.

I worked with Danny at Lowe's in Crossville TN and was impressed with his drive to serve our country. I grieve for his parents, his sister, and his wife and baby. Their sacrifice is, in its own way, as great as Danny's, I salute them and honor them for that sacrifice!

To Sgt. Lee's family: My heart aches for your loss; may Daniel rest in peace.

Can someone tell me if there has been a memorial fund established in his honor? If so, I would like to make a contribution. If not, perhaps someone in his community could do so - maybe a scholarship fund for his son?
