The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped 1 cent to $4.133 on Thursday, the largest daily decrease since May 14.

The average price has dropped for three consecutive days since rising to its highest amount since March 19, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It decreased four-tenths of a cent on Tuesday and six-tenths of a cent on Wednesday.

The average price is 1.8 cents less than one week ago but 2.8 cents more than one month ago and 11.2 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The price of wholesale gasoline fell 30 cents over the past few weeks, according to Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

"That will hopefully spell some more good news for drivers as they fill up their cars for summer vacation,'' Montgomery said.

The average price is 1.8 cents less than one week ago but 2.8 cents more than one month ago and 11.2 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Montgomery encouraged motorists who use a smart phone to find the cheapest place to fuel up to pull over when doing so.

"Don't be doing that while you are driving, since that is illegal,''she said.
