The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped under $4 for the first time since March 15 on Friday, decreasing 1.3 cents to $3.992.

The average price has decreased for 18 consecutive days, dropping 16.1 cents over that span, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.1 cents less than one week ago, 12 cents lower than one month ago and 7.8 cents cents below what it was one year ago.

The 18-day streak of decreases is the longest since a 27-day run from April 30-May 26. The current streak was immediately preceded by 11 increases in 15 days, which pushed the average price to its highest amount since May 19.
