U.S. Border Patrol agents confiscated a variety of narcotics totaling nearly $1 million in three separate drug busts last week.
Four men were arrested in the incidents throughout San Diego County.
The first incident occurred Friday afternoon when Border Patrol agents stopped a Ford pickup on Interstate 15. The 24-year-old driver consented to a search and agents discovered more than 60 pounds of cocaine hidden in the vehicle. The cocaine had an estimated value of about $800,000.
Later Friday afternoon, two men headed north on Interstate 5 were stopped at the San Clemente checkpoint. Agents discovered five pounds of heroin worth approximately $66,000 stashed behind the dashboard of the car. One of the men arrested is a 27-year-old Mexican national who potentially could face deportation, according to Border Patrol agent Tim Hamil.
The third incident occurred Saturday morning at the Pine Valley checkpoint. A drug sniffing dog reportedly detected narcotics near the front of a 1999 Mercedes Benz. Agents disassembled the car and found almost 13 pounds of methamphetamine, worth an estimated $128,000.
