Spencer the PTSD service dog.

Iraq War veteran Blanka Stratford was catching a quick bite with friends Saturday when someone snatched her service dog, Spencer, from her car. Fortunately, Spencer and Stratford have been reunited after she offered a $2,000 reward for his return.

Stratford told CNN she was making a cross-country trip from her home in Massachusetts to visit friends in Houston when everything went awry. A split-second decision to leave Spencer in his dog carrier in the front seat of her car was now haunting her:

"It was a stupid, stupid decision."

Stratford hunkered down in Houston, posting flyers of Spencer everywhere she could, and talking to local television stations.

The latter proved fruitful.

According to KHOU-TV:

A man contacted Stratford shortly after the story aired on Monday’s 10 p.m. news. He claimed to have found Spencer wandering near Midtown.

Stratford rushed to meet the man and reclaim her dog. She handed over the financial reward despite being skeptical about the man’s story.

The Department of Defense even covered Stratford's story to get the word out about the wounded warrior's dognapped pup when Spencer was still missing:
