Army Pfc. Daniela "Dani" Rojas, 19, died May 3 in Homburg, Germany of a non-combat related illness, according to the Department of Defense.
The military gave no specifics as to what the fatal illness was, nor in which country Rojas fell ill.
Rojas wrote on her Facebook page that she grew up in Boyle Heights, and was a 2012 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in East Los Angeles.
She joined the Army on Oct. 22, 2012.
Rojas was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
