Audit Says San Diego Opera Remains A 'Going Concern'

An audit released Thursday indicates the San Diego Opera has landed on its feet financially, following a tumultuous year.

The report by the firm Leaf & Cole showed that the opera was a "going concern." That's accounting speak to say the opera company was not in danger of financial failure. The audit looked at the company's finances during fiscal 2014, which ended on June 30.

The opera company board of directors voted in March to shut down the company at the prompting of former managing director Ian Campbell. The decision was later reversed and Campbell left the company he had led for 31 years.

A crowd-funding campaign raised more than $2 million for the company, allaying fears it no longer had the confidence of funders and patrons.
