60K People Per Day Expected At San Diego Airport

Around 60,000 passengers per day are expected at Lindbergh Field in San Diego through Sunday for Thanksgiving holiday travel, airport officials said Monday.

Because of the expected large crowds, passengers on domestic flights are encouraged to arrive 90 minutes before their scheduled departure, according to the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. For international flights, passengers should arrive 2 1/2 hours ahead of time.

If all goes smoothly and travelers find themselves in need of killing time, the airport has new shopping and dining options, including local favorites Phil's BBQ and Stone Brewing Co. — both in Terminal 2.

The airport has also launched a therapy dog program, in which the canines and their handlers will roam the post-security areas of the terminals and make themselves available for passengers who need to de-stress. The handlers will also be able to provide airport information.

The airport is also offering an online coupon for $2 off per day for parking at the Economy Lot off Pacific Highway. The coupon can be printed at www.san.org/parking. A shuttle bus will carry passengers to the terminals.
