Back To School For 131K Students In San Diego Unified

GUEST

Cindy Marten, Superintendent, San Diego Unified

Classes are set to begin Tuesday for about 131,000 students in the San Diego Unified School District.

The total enrollment is around 2,000 less than last year. Of the total, about 20,000 students will attend charter schools overseen by the district, according to SDUSD spokeswoman Linda Zintz.

On Friday, the district opened what it calls a one-stop shop for parents, students, staff and community members to share concerns related to the district, its policies or its schools, and receive objective, timely responses. The Quality Assurance Office is located at district headquarters in University Heights, Annex 10.

The Board of Education, which has not met since the end of July, has its next scheduled meeting set for one week from Tuesday.
