'Reunion' Special Screening
There are not a lot of opportunities to meet foreign film directors here in San Diego so KPBS arts reporter Beth Accomando recommends checking out the screening of the Swedish film “Reunion” at the Mingei International Museum tomorrow (Sunday) with director Anna Odell.

ANCHOR INTRO: There are not a lot of opportunities to meet foreign film directors here in San Diego so KPBS arts reporter Beth Accomando recommends checking out the screening of the Swedish film “Reunion” at the Mingei International Museum tomorrow (Sunday) with director Anna Odell. Swedish filmmaker Anna Odell burst on the film scene in 2013, winning the best directorial debut award at the Stockholm Film Festival for “Reunion.” The film takes a different approach to the issue of bullying by starting the film at a school reunion when all the characters are adults. CLIP Toast A woman named Anna, who was not invited to the reunion, starts to describe how she was bullied through nine years of school. Aspects of the story are taken from director Odell’s own personal experiences, and the director plays herself in the film. Rather than focusing on the actual incidents of bullying, Odell looks to the consequences bullying can have on someone as an adult, consequences she knows firsthand. The Swedish American Chamber of Commerce in San Diego is hosting a screening of Odell’s film and has brought the director out to San Diego to hold a Q&A at the event. “Reunion” screens at the Mingei International Museum on Sunday at 7:00 pm with a post film discussion with Odell at 8:30. Admission is free but you must RSVP at SACC-dash-sandiego-dot-org. Beth Accomando, KPBS News.
