La Jolla Country Day School Cancels Classes After Bomb Threat

La Jolla Country Day School will be closed Wednesday due to a bomb threat.

A message on the school's website says that all classes and after-school activities are canceled.

FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth said that "a known individual" telephoned the school on Tuesday and threatened to place a bomb on campus. Foxworth would not say exactly how the person is known but said the person is not a student or a school staff member.

Because of the specific language in the threat and out of an abundance of caution, the school decided to cancel classes Wednesday, Foxworth said.

He said authorities do not believe the threat is affiliated with any of the other recent school threats.

La Jolla Country Day School is a private college-preparatory school with about 1,200 students, according to its website. It has students as young as 3 and serves pupils through the 12th grade.

The FBI, San Diego Police Department and San Diego Fire-Rescue Department are investigating the threat to the school.
