For the second time in as many days, a bogus bomb threat was made today against a Southwest Airlines flight from San Diego to Dallas, authorities said.
The menacing statement — issued via Twitter, as was Monday's — named Flight 682, which was slated to depart at 7 a.m., according to San Diego Harbor Police.
Officers investigated, clearing the jet for takeoff within an hour. It landed safely in Texas about 10:45 a.m., roughly 55 minutes behind schedule, according to the airline.
Passengers had yet to board the plane when the threat was discovered, so no evacuations were necessary, officials said.
"The safety of air travelers is our top priority," the harbor police department said in a prepared statement. "The Airport Authority will work closely with the proper authorities as the investigation into this matter is conducted."
