Ferguson, Mo., Police Chief Thomas Jackson has resigned.
Jackson becomes the sixth Ferguson city employee to resign after the release of a scathing Justice Department report, which looked into police department and municipal court practices.
A news release says the city and Jackson "have agreed to a mutual separation which involves the Chief's resignation," effective on Thursday, March 19.
It says Jackson will receive a severance payment and health insurance for one year.
The statement says Lt. Col. Al Eickhoff will serve as interim chief while the city looks for a replacement.
