A gunman attempted to abduct a female student at San Diego State University, police said Tuesday.
The attempted kidnapping occurred at the corner of Campanile and Baja drives around 10:50 p.m. Monday, according to the SDSU Police Department.
The man walked up to the student, pointed a black handgun at her and told her to "get into the car," university police said in a statement.
"The victim ran from the scene unharmed and called police, (and) the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction .... possibly in a brown pickup," police said, adding he was white, 40 to 60 years old, 5 foot 10 and wore eyeglasses.
Anyone with information about assailant's identity was asked to call the San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers' anonymous tip line at (619) 235-8477. Tipsters can also contact university police at (619) 594-1991 or police@mail.sdsu.edu.
