Our Wild San Diego: Animals And Their Superpowers

Our Wild San Diego: Animals And Their Superpowers

KPBS Evening Edition anchor Dwane Brown took a tour Friday of "SuperWild: Discovering Animal Super Powers," an exhibit that opens Saturday at the Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista.

The tour is part of Brown's ongoing feature, "Our Wild San Diego." At the center, he got a chance to meet snakes that fish at lightning speed and a toucan parrot. There also were creatures that walk on walls — known formally as Madagascar hissing cockroaches.

In his series "Our Wild San Diego," KPBS anchor Dwane Brown takes you to places in San Diego County to discover the animals and plants that live here. He explores everything from sea creatures to birds to reptiles and shows the habitats where they live. Along the way, you meet the people working to protect our local environment.

Living Coast says "SuperWild" is family friendly and celebrates the world of animal super-heroes. It also includes local artwork. The exhibit continues through Sept. 7 and is included with regular admission to the Living Coast. The center is at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive.
