March Likely Hottest On Record At San Diego's Lindbergh Field

This is likely the hottest March on record at San Diego's Lindbergh Field San Diego since record keeping started in 1872, the National Weather Service said Sunday.

As of Sunday there were seven days this March where the mercury topped 80 degrees. The weather service said 1947 and 1988 were the previous March record holders, with 5 days above 80.

Four days this month - March 13, 14 and 15, and last Friday — set record daily high temperatures for those dates.

The daily high temperature has dropped below average just twice this month. The daily low temperature has only been under average three times this month.

The average temperature for March thus far has been 66.6 degrees. That is 1.1 degrees higher than the average March high temperature for San Diego over the last 143 years.
