Powerful rip and longshore currents are likely, as well as beach erosion and minor flooding, forecasters said.

Forecasters warned that the waves may be powerful enough to sweep those close to the water off their feet, and rip currents would cause dangerous swimming conditions.

The weather service discouraged swimmers from entering the water.
