Gusty Winds Expected In San Diego County's Deserts

Gusty winds are expected to develop in San Diego County's deserts Wednesday afternoon.

A National Weather Service wind advisory for the deserts is scheduled to take effect at 4 p.m. and extend until 3 a.m. Friday. West winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour will be possible, along with gusts that may reach 55 mph.

"A low pressure system over the western states will maintain stronger onshore flow with periods of stronger gusty west winds in the deserts for late this afternoon through late Thursday night," according to the weather service.

The wind could cause hazardous driving conditions, especially for motorists in high-profile vehicles, the weather service said. Visibility along some desert roadways could be reduced by blowing sand and dust.
