The strong gusty winds blustering through the deserts of San Diego County are expected to continue Friday as rain fell elsewhere in the region.
In a 24-hour period ending at 9:15 a.m., automated gauges collected .52 inches of rain near Valley Center, .51 inches near Palomar Mountain, .44 inches at Lake Cuyamaca, .34 on Black Mountain, .33 inches at Mesa Grande and .31 inches on Volcan Mountain, according to the National Weather Service. More than two-tenths of an inch of rain fell in Deer Springs, Encinitas, Pine Hills, Julian and Lake Henshaw.
No measurable rainfall was reported in the deserts.

A National Weather Service wind advisory is scheduled to remain in effect in the deserts until 9 p.m. Westerly winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour are forecast for the area, along with gusts that may reach 50 mph.
"Strong gusty winds will continue in the deserts through this evening," according to the weather service. "The strongest winds will occur through and east of the San Gorgonio Pass and in the Anza-Borrego Desert."
Forecasters said the wind could cause hazardous driving conditions, especially for motorists in high profile vehicles. Visibility along some desert roadways could be reduced by blowing sand and dust.
