The National Weather Service is forecasting more heavy rain today in parts of Texas and Oklahoma that are reeling from weekend flooding that damaged and destroyed homes and killed at least three people.

The National Weather Service predicted severe thunderstorms in north and northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma and southwest Arkansas. Residents of those areas should expected damaging winds, some hurricane force, a few tornadoes, hail, some baseball-sized, the service said.

Damage assessments are underway in Texas after the weekend flooding triggered by storms along the Blanco River between Austin and San Antonio. The high water forced Peggy Wilborn – and her neighbors — from their homes in Wimberley.

"They've lost everything: their cars, their furniture; everything," Wilborn said. "And it is just amazing."

Nearby San Marcos was also severely affected. Emergency officials in those locations said up to 400 homes were destroyed; three people were listed missing.

The Associated Press reports that a twister damaged a apartment complex in Houston and caused flooding that forced at least 2,000 people to evacuate.

The weekend flooding killed one person in Texas, and two in Oklahoma. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will be surveying some of that flood damage today.
