Higher-than-average tides and elevated surf will create a potential for minor flooding along the San Diego County coastline each morning Tuesday through the end of the work week.
A National Weather Service coastal flood advisory is scheduled to take effect at 5 a.m. Tuesday and extend until 9 p.m. Thursday.
The sun and the moon will line up to bring high tides near 7 feet during the mid- to late morning hours through Friday. The so-called "spring tides" combined with surf of 3 to 6 feet and sets of 5 feet Tuesday and up to 7 feet on Thursday could lead to minor coastal flooding, according to the weather service.
Forecasters said Thursday and Friday would have the highest potential for impacts, such as the flooding of such low-lying areas as beach parking lots, adjacent streets and, possibly, structures. Oceanside, Cardiff-by-the- Sea, La Jolla and Imperial Beach could be susceptible to minor tidal overflows.
Strong rip currents could also be possible, according to the weather service.
