San Diego's Top Weekend Events: From Street Festivals to 'Cabaret'

This weekend you'll find music in the streets, at the park and at the notorious Kit Kat Klub.
Imperial Avenue Street Festival
Music, Visual Arts
The history, art and culture of Logan Heights will be celebrated at the Imperial Avenue Street Festival.
The daylong event features four blocks of local artists, crafts, information booths and food from neighborhood restaurants. Highlights include a performance by Latin jazz great, Poncho Sanchez, along with sets by local jazz artist Kamau Kenyatta, Rebecca Jade & The Cold Fact and various mariachi groups.

The show is set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power. Over at the seedy Kit Kat Klub, there are several romances and political issues brewing, and overseeing it all is the club's emcee, played by Randy Harrison. It features beloved songs including “Willkommen” and “Maybe This Time.”
"Cabaret" is recommended for adult audiences over age 18.

Carlsbad Music Festival
The Carlsbad Music Festival is all about "adventurous music by the beach."
The 13th annual event features more than 60 performances that range from contemporary classical and indie rock to world music and jazz. Over the three-day festival, you'll find free outdoor concerts throughout the neighborhood, as well as 10 ticketed shows by Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, Kourosh Taghavi and more.
Along with the music, there will be a beer garden, food trucks and an artisan market on Saturday and Sunday.

Summer Pops 2016: DreamWorks Animation In Concert
Say farewell to summer vacation with a family-friendly Bayside Summer Nights concert celebrating more than 20 years of DreamWorks animation.
The concert will feature music and footage from "Shrek," "How to Train Your Dragon," "Madagascar," "Kung Fu Panda" and more. Pre-concert activities for kids begin at 6 p.m.
