Rain is in the forecast this weekend and we've got a lineup of events that will keep you safe from the elements.

From dance to theatre and music, there are a host of shows getting ready to take to the stage.

An international student ballet competition is making a stop in San Diego. It's the semi-finals of the Youth America Grand Prix, featuring 300 local dancers performing variations of ballet classics including "Giselle," "Paquita," and "Swan Lake." The young dancers are competing for a spot in the finals this April in New York.

The contest was also the focus of a recent documentary.

At The Old Globe, young writers will see their stories come to life. The 32nd annual California Young Playwrights Contest aims to develop the next generation of playwrights. The students' scripts are evaluated by professionals and the top four scripts are turned into full productions.

The California Young Playwrights program at The Old Globe runs through Saturday.

In North County, "Wonderlust" is a show that's a 'must-hear and must-see.' It features fingerstyle and harp guitarist Muriel Anderson and French percussionist Mino Cinelu performing to a backdrop of stunning images.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad.
