A member of the quartet that sang the Canadian national anthem before Tuesday's All-Star Game at Petco Park changed a lyric and held up a sign that read "All Lives Matter."
Remigio Pereira of the Tenors sang, "We're all brothers and sisters. All lives matter to the great." The normal English lyric is "With glowing hearts we see thee rise. The True North strong and free."
The British Columbia-based quartet issued a statement on its Twitter page saying Pereira would not perform with the Tenors "until further notice."
"The Tenors are deeply sorry for the disrespectful and misguided lack of judgment by one member of the group acting as a 'lone wolf' today," the statement said.
"The other members of the group are shocked and embarrassed by the actions of Remigio Pereira, who changed the lyrics of our national anthem and used this coveted platform to serve his own political views."
"All Lives Matter" has become a response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
