How Far Has San Diego Region Come In Supporting Renewable Energy In Last 20 Years? GUEST: Len Hering, executive director, Center for Sustainable Energy

The San Diego-based Center for Sustainable Energy is celebrating its 20th anniversary this week.

Through advocacy, education and developing renewable energy solutions, the nonprofit is on the forefront of the effort that San Diego recently embraced in adopting its own climate action plan.

"We have come a long way, we are extremely progressive thanks in some part to (State) Senator Fran Pavley, who wrote SB32, which crafted the map in which the rest of California is now following to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Len Hering, executive director, of the Center for Sustainable Energy.

Sen. Pavley will be one of the featured speakers at Thursday's anniversary celebration. The event is sold out.

Hering discusses Wednesday on Midday Edition, how far the region has come in adopting renewable energy and what's in store for the next 20 years.
